MLS Announces Opening Fixtures

NEW YORK, NY–Major League Soccer announced each team’s home openers for its 26th season. The season will start with a pair of fixtures on Friday, April 16th. Houston Dynamo will host San Jose Earthquakes at 7pm CT while last season’s runners-up Seattle Sounders FC will host Minnesota United at 8:30pm CT on FS1.

Eight fixtures are set for the next day (April 17th) with the featured match at 4:30pm CT on FOX between LAFC and first-year team Austin FC. Austin FC will start with a number of matches on the road before their home opener which will take place on June 19th against San Jose.

ABC will televise the match between Inter Miami and LA Galaxy in whaat will be Phil Neville’s debut as the Herons’ coach.

FC Cincinnati will christen their new stadium on Sunday, May 16th, against Inter Miami on Fox. MLS Cup Champion Columbus Crew will start its home campaign at Historic Crew Stadium on April 18th against Philadelphia before opening their new downtown venue this summer.

Due to travel restrictions between the U.S. and Canada, the three Canadian clubs will begin the MLS regular season in the U.S. with each club hosting matches in a U.S. city. CF Montreal will host Toronto FC at Inter Miami Stadium in Fort Lauderdale on April 17th. Toronto FC will host Vancouver at Exploria Stadium in Orlando on April 24th. And Vancouver Whitecaps will host Portland Timbers at Rio Tinto Stadium on April 18th.

Towards the end last season; Montreal were playing “home” games at Red Bull Arena, Toronto at Rentschler Field in Hartford, and Vancouver at Providence Park in Portland.
