Minnesota United edged the Portland Timbers at their stronghold of Providence Park in Portland, Oregon in the MLS regular season match on May 20, 2023. The away side got a dramatic injury goal by the South African right winger Bongokuhle Hlongwane in the fifth minute past the full match 90-minute mark that earned them the three points and gained them the sixth position in the table in the Western Conference.
