Inter Miami has signed Mexico international Rodolfo Pizarro, two youth internationals.
The deal is yet to be confirmed by the club, but Pizarro’s former club Monterrey have confirmed the attacking midfielder’s deal has gone through.
Pizarro will take up a designated player spot at Inter, leaving just one available ahead of the start of their inaugural season on March 1.
The 25-year-old is an attack-minded player who worked with Miami head coach Diego Alonso last year, winning the CONCACAF Champions League with Monterrey.
Pizarro made 51 appearances for Monterrey during his time there, also spending time at Guadalajara and Pachuca earlier in his career.
He is a 25-time Mexico international and he featured regularly in the country’s 2018 Gold Cup campaign.
Pizarro will now link up with his new teammates for pre-season training.
Inter take on Philadelphia Union on Saturday in a behind-closed-door friendly, but it has not been confirmed whether their newest signing will feature in that game.
Additionally, Inter Miami has also completed the signings of Colombian youth international Andres Reyes and Bolivian youth international Jairo Quinteros.
Reyes arrives in South Florida on a year-long loan deal from Atletico Nacional with an option to buy.
A center-back by trade, Reyes made 18 appearances in the Colombian first division last season, and he has racked up 11 caps for Colombia under-20s to-date, as well as representing the under-23s.
Reyes takes up an international roster spot with Inter having four remaining, Julian Carranza, Jay Matias Chapman and Matias Pellegrini acquiring green cards. Nicolás Figal, Christian Makoun and Lewis Morgan occupy the other international spots.
“Andrés is a sturdy defensive presence with a lot of potential,” said Inter Miami’s sporting director Paul McDonough.
“We continue adding a few more quality pieces to our roster during the final stretch of preseason, and believe in Andres we have a solid, quick and precise defender in the backline.”
Quineteros, meanwhile, has been signed from Valencia’s academy, and he is also a center-back.
The 19-year-old will be loaned straight back out to Bolivia’s most prominent club side Club Bolívar for the 2020 season.
Diego Alonso now has 11 defenders to pick from ahead of the season opener on March 1.
Inter are expected to continue adding to their squad with two designated player spots still available.
