It looks like the Portland Timbers are in negotiations seeking what it looks like to be their potential starting goalkeeper for this 2024 season, in Canada’s International keeper Maxime Crepeau.
Nothing official, but per the Athletic reporter Tom Bogert, the Rose City side is keen in bringing in Crepeau, followed byJames Pantemis and Trey Muse as his backups after both being officially signed with the Timbers.
Defense wins games and for the Timbers this offseason has been a busy one, one by bringing Kamal Miller as an experienced center back from Inter Miami as well the arrivals of Pantemis and Muse.
Last season, Portland allowing 58 goals in 44 games last season.
Opening the door for Muse, the former Charleston Battery keeper will get the nod when Crepeau and Pantemis are away with the Canadian National Team as the third keeper, while Hunter Sulte and Ryan Bilichuk will play for T2 the Timbers USL side.
Phil Neville’s influence is being seen in the off season for Portland, as the man was an assistant with the Canadian National Team and somehow leading to making the deal become a reality.
This adds the fourth Canadian player in the team, thus getting the moniker of the Canadian Timbers as the negotiations between Portland and the Crepeau reaching their final stages will be announced anytime.
As the deal becomes a reality, this will be the fourth player of Canadian origin adding to the ranks of Zac McGraw, Kamal Miller, James Pantemis and Maxime Crepeau.
In the end, general manager Ned Gravaboy is building his defensive backfield, and with Miller on board, the man is building a contender ahead of the 2024 season.
The Portland Timbers are very serious and looking forward to deliver a one of kind 2024 season.
