Prost Amerika is delighted to announce that Matt Pentz will be joining us as our latest columnist.
He joins former England captain Terry Butcher, MLS Cup winning coach Gary Smith and veteran BBC World Service broadcaster Richard Fleming among others.
Pentz is the former Sounders FC beat reporter at the Seattle Times, having previously covered Euro 2012 for the Kyiv Post in Ukraine. He is based in Seattle and will be writing on all things soccer in Cascadia although when there’s a global story, Pentz will be there to give his take on it.
Pentz, who built up a considerable personal following at the Times said:
“I’m delighted to continue serving soccer fans throughout the Pacific Northwest. I’m also excited to join an organization that has provided a valuable independent voice in the American soccer landscape.”
He was named a Top-10 award winner for his beat reporting for his work during the Sounders’ MLS Cup winning season by the Associated Press Sports Editors.
The arrival of Matt Pentz compounds a good week for independent soccer coverage in Seattle.
Seattle radio to get live soccer show
Yesterday KJR announced the start of a live soccer show on Saturday mornings.
KJR’s own Jackson Felts will host the Radio Cascadia Live show which will feature all of of Prost Amerika’s Radio Cascadia current podcast hosts; our own Seattle beat writer Steven Agen, Ari Liljenwall who covers Sounders FC for MLSsoccer.com and Andrew Harvey of SportsPressNW.
The new show will be an extension of the Radio Cascadia series that appears on Prost and podcasted versions of the live show will be available on Prost as well if you miss the live show.
Speaking on behalf of Prost Amerika, Agen put aside his new radio responsibilities and welcomed Pentz to the fold:
“The Prost Seattle team is thrilled to be working with a top notch journalist like Matt. He’s set the standard for soccer media in Seattle and has brought much-needed attention to the sport. The group looks forward to reading his columns and learning from him.”
Radio Cascadia Live will make its KJR debut this Saturday morning at 9am and Pentz’s first column will appear next week.
