Looney Report #6: Loons finish Spring Season with 3-1 over Miami FC

To wrap up the 2016 Spring season, Minnesota United topped Miami FC 3-1. The first half of 2016, the Loons positioned themselves as one of the dominant teams in the league ahead of there departure for the MLS.

Against Miami, the score remained even at 0-0 before a Chiristian Ramirez goal helped give United the lead early in the 2nd half. Stefan Pinhh followed suite scoring at the 52’ mark off an assist from  Kevin Venegas.

Miami FC drew within 1 at the 66’ mark off a goal from Jaime Chavez. United sealed the deal with a back braking goal in stoppage time from Ibson.

Though Miami FC controlled possession most of the match, but the Loons defense locked down Miami’s attack. Christian Ramirez’s fifth goal of the season moved him into the second spot for NASL goals scored behind Éamon Zayed.

The Loons finished the Spring season in third place, and look to gain momentum heading into the fall season. Coming up next, Minnesota United host Sporting Kansas City in a U.S. Open Cup match.
