Bayern Munich is back on top for at least a day as they defeated Mainz, 3-1, at the Opel Arena on a pair of goals from Robert Lewandowski. Leaders coming into Matchday 13, RB Leipzig play Saturday at home to Schalke (11:30am CT, FS2).

It was the hosts who were in front after just four minutes as a Yunus Malli pass sent Jhon Cordoba in behind the Bayern defense and beat Manuel Neuer far post. That lead lasted just four minutes as Arjen Robben found Lewandowski unmarked on a counter attack and he made no mistake from 10 yards out to level the score.

Bayern took the lead on 21 minutes as a Thomas Müller cross found the head of Robben who powered it past Jonas Lössl. Bayern dominated from there on out, and it was only wasteful finishing that prevented the scoreline from being more lopsided. It finally became 3-1 in stoppage time after Lewandowski curled in a free kick to ensure the points went back to Munich.

Next up, Bayern wrap up group play in the UEFA Champions League at home to Atletico Madrid. Kickoff is at 1:45pm CT on ESPN2.
