One of LAFC’s key pieces during its first two season has a new home.
On Thursday, LAFC dealt keeper Tyler Miller to Minnesota United for $150,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) in 2020 and $50,000 in Targeted Allocation Money (TAM) in 2021.
Miller was the first player ever drafted by LAFC when he was selected first overall in the expansion draft in December of 2017. Miller went on to establish himself as one of the top keepers in MLS, going 34-10-17 while registering 19 shutouts and 193 saves while helping LAFC to a playoff appearance in 2018 and the Supporters Shield in 2019.
Miller, however, became expendable when the team acquired Dutch keeper Kenneth Vermeer. Vermeer has played for five clubs over 15 seasons in the Dutch Eredivisie, with his most recent stint being with Feyenoord, in which he appeared in 16 of 18 matches and went 8-3-6 while helping Feyenoord to the Europa League qualifiers. LAFC also has Pablos Sisniega, who made six appearances for LAFC in 2019 and went 3-2-1.
