The former Legia Warsaw man Jaroslaw Niezgoda delivered his first brace to defeat the visiting San Jose Quakes in a classic Pacific Northwest rainy October night in an empty Providence Park.

Felipe Mora continued his scoring run with assists from both Marvin Loria and Diego Chara.

Gio Savarese has been making all the right moves lately and they paid off with the buildup the team became dominant in the second half to stop a fighting Quakes side.

After a goalless first half, the second half became decisive for the Rose City side when Jaroslaw Niezgoda opened the scoring with a combination of assists from Williamson and Diego Chara with a beautiful header in the 47th minute.

For the former Legionnaire, this was to be his night when a filtered pass inside the area intended for Diego Valeri was cleared out by Quakes defender Tanner Beason weak clearance that fell towards Niezgoda who scored in the 52nd minute.

Still, the Portland Timbers had a few scary moments, but Steve Clark rose to the occasion several times on the night denying the Goonies any chances of scoring as well as seeing a goal denied by Tanner Beason offside in 71st minute.

When this team plays with unity, great things happen and when Gio made his moves in the 61st minute with Jeremy Ebobisse and Felipe Mora coming on for Yimmi Chara and Jaroslaw Niezgoda.

As for Jeremy Ebobissee, he recorded his 73rd consecutive match played, setting a new club record for matches played since September 8, 2018, hail to Jebo!

When this team plays as a single unit, great thing happen and tonight the whole starting eleven alongside its substitutes played a great game as the offense did its job and the defensive game is evidently paying off.

The likes of Diego Chara and Eryk Williamson have been the foundation defensive midfield.

Felipe Mora’s final score put the icing on the cake for the Timbers in the 86th minute and assure the Rose City side to their fifth consecutive win of the season. Now to get ready for midweek and to travel to Salt Lake City to face Real Salt Lake coming from a heartbreaking loss at Providence Park to the Whitecaps on Saturday.
