Inter Miami has been dealt an injury blow ahead of the new MLS season.
Striker Julian Carranza has been ruled out for 10-12 weeks with a foot injury.
The 19-year-old suffered the injury during training, leaving the session on a golf cart.
“He’s injured and we’re waiting for him to recover as soon as possible,” said Inter head coach Diego Alonso.
Carranza joined Inter from Argentine outfit Banfield in July 2020, returning to his native country on a loan deal until this pre-season.
He was expected to push to be a key player in Alonso’s plans, but he will now miss out on at least seven games, if the duration estimate of his injury is correct.
If Carranza is out for 10 weeks, the earliest he could return is the home match with Toronto FC on April 25th.
Speaking about the youngster’s injury, teammate Nico Figal said: “We lose a lot because Juli is a player that’s very important for us.
“He’s a player that has a lot of promise, a forward that is coming off a good stint in Argentina. We’ll just have to try to replace him as best we can and there are players that can do so in a good way.”
Alonso will now have to turn to Juan Agudelo, Jerome Kiesewetter, Lewis Morgan and Robbie Robinson.
