Inter Miami has acquired U.S Men’s National Team star Wil Trapp.
Inter has sent $100,000 and an international roster spot to Columbus Crew to sign the 27-year-old with performance-based incentives also included in the deal.
Trapp’s arrival makes it three signings in two days for Miami who announced Nicolas Figal and Lewis Morgan across Thursday and Friday, taking their roster total up to 26.
A deep-lying midfielder, Trapp makes the move to South Florida after six years with Crew, making 185 league appearances, helping his team make the playoffs four times, including an MLS Cup final in 2015.
During his time in Columbus, he broke into the USMNT having represented his country at three younger age groups. He has earned 20 caps for his country at senior level to-date, beginning in 2015.
Speaking about Miami’s latest acquisition, sporting director Paul McDonough said: ““Wil is one of the most respected leaders in American soccer.
“He has served as captain at both the club and international levels and fits the culture we are building here in South Florida.
“Wil is also a top-class midfielder with established success in MLS.”
