Washington 2-1 Georgetown

CARY, NC–The University of Washington Huskies will be playing for a national title in Men’s Soccer on Sunday (11am PT, ESPNU) as they held off Georgetown in the College Cup semifinal, 2-1, at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina. The #2-seeded Huskies will face off against #8-Clemson in the Final after the Tigers beat fellow ACC-rival Notre Dame on penalties following a 1-1 draw after extra time.

Lucas Meek put the Huskies ahead in the 54th minute after his intended cross for Gil Miglietti went goalwards instead past Georgetown’s Giannis Nikopolidis. Charlie Ostrem doubled the Huskies’ advantage three minutes later with a shot from distance that went Upper 90.

Zach Riviere pulled one back for the Hoyas ten minutes from time. They had one last chance on a free kick with eight seconds left, but Riviere’s last effort would go over the bar and the Huskies would celebrate as time expired.
