The Portland Timbers shaked their slump with a resounding win over their Cascadia Rivals the Seattle Sounders on what the league calls it as Rivalry Week. With a stunning bicycle kick by Dairon Aspirilla, the Rose City side tied the match and rallied in the end with a 4-1 rout over a streaking Sounders side.
In addition to Aspirilla’s heroics, Santiago Moreno had a memorable game and seeing his confidence getting a boost with a couple of assists that ended up both with scores. Once again, it’s curtain time for Juan Mosquera being on the bench as the man scored a spectacular goal and providing an assist for the team winning for their fourth consecutive win over the Rave Greens.
This is Mosquera’s second Team of the MatchDay as the U-22 player along with Santiago Moreno both making headlines as well for Moreno coming from a slow start to shine in the Cascadia Derby.
Hail to manager Giovanni Savarese making it as the coach for Team of the Matchday.
Just to mention kudos for two former Portland Timbers players being named in Matchday 8 Team of the Match day with Jeremy Ebobisse for San Jose scoring a brace and FC Dallas’s Marco Farfan playing a defensive gem and providing and assist for the game winning goal.
