A renovated Dynamo team showed up for the home opening with many new faces and aggressive attitude in front of over 20,000 fans to try to start off the season on the right foot.
In a rainy night in Houston, Erick Torres and Romell Quioto scored a piece each as Dynamo players to get the win for the home team 2-1 against the defending Champions Seattle Sounders. The goals for the home team came in during the first half as Houston dominated a northwestern team that looked surprised by what Dynamo’s new coach Wilmer Cabrera game plan was. US star Clint Dempsey scored for the away team in the second half.
The Orange started with a 4-3-3 formation presenting a very fast attack as Torres, Quioto, and Elis started as forwards. These three players created many opportunities for the home team. The combination of experience and young talented players is creating a good team chemistry, which was the key for getting the win on Saturday night.
Seattle, on the other hand, was not as dynamic as Houston. They seemed slow, especially in defense. The Uruguayan Nicolas Lodeiro and Dempsey were the two players that tried to create some opportunities for the Emerald city team without much success.
The next match for the Dynamo will be at home as they will host Columbus Crew on Saturday March 11th at BBVA Compass Stadium. Seattle will be traveling north to face Montreal Impact the same day.
