Houston Dash and Racing Louisville tied 0-0 on a special night for Dash fans.
In a very well fought match, Dash and Racing played to a 0-0 draw on Friday night on a night Dash legend Rachel Daly said goodbye to Houston fans after she was transferred to the FA Women’s Super League’s Aston Villa.
The British native was drafted as the sixth overall pick six years ago by Houston and is leaving the club after she conquered the European championship last month. She played 116 matches for Houston. She scored 42 goals and tallied 12 assists in Orange. With the Dash, she won the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup, where she wads named the tournament’s MVP.
Taking about the match, the Dash play to and deserved to win, but the visitors came to Houston with the idea to get at least a point and they got it. It was difficult for the Kentucky side, especially after the 42nd minute when they were a player down when Satara Murray saw a red card.
Despite Houston having one more player in the field, they had the control of the match from the starting whistle. They created many opportunities to open the scoreboard. However, the order and determination on defense from Louisville made it impossible to Houston to find score the winning goal.
Shea Groom, Ebony Salmon, and Maria Sanchez led the Orange in offense. The versatile trio created chances using their speed and skills to make it difficult for the visitors. However, the last touch was missing for Dash players on a hot and humid Friday night in Houston.
The visitors hardly created chances in their last third. Nadia Nadim was their most important player, but she could not do much by herself.
At the end of the match the 0-0 left Houston extending their unbeaten run to four games under new coach Amoros. Also, now with 25 points, the Dash went up one place in the standings and are now in second place.
