Prost Amerika video columnist Alan Hinton shared his thoughts in the video below on the Seattle Sounders’ upcoming match on Sunday against Sporting KC, Jason Kreis joining Orlando City as their new head coach, English Premier League’s largest transfer ever and Sam Allardyce’s potential hiring as England’s next manager.
Seattle Sounders FC
“The fans lost out when we lost Obafemi Martins.”
With the Sounders nine points out from a playoff slot, Hinton felt the club never recovered from the loss of striker Obafemi Martins. He saw positives if the Sounders are able to sign several big-time players during the transfer window and the return of injured defender Roman Torres to the lineup.
The former winger continued to support head coach Sigi Schmid. Hinton noted the importance of Seattle’s next two games against Sporting Kansas City this Sunday and a home match against LA Galaxy a week later.
Jason Kreis joins Orlando City
“Rumors are what the world of soccer is all about.”
Current Sounders FC general manager Garth Lagerwey and new Orlando City head coach Jason Kreis were a successful team at Real Salt Lake. Until the Orlando City announcement, many pundits thought Kreis might replace Schmid and rejoin Lagerwey in Seattle.
Hinton hoped Kreis’ signing would put an end to rumors of Schmid’s demise, “Sigi should be allowed to see if he can turn the corner with this team.”
Sam Allardyce: England’s new manager?
“Sammy will not take any garbage from anybody.”
After England’s poor performance in the 2016 Euros, current Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce is supposedly ready to take over the English National Team.
Hinton described Allardyce as hard-nosed and determined. More importantly, he’s a no-nonsense leader ready to “kick backsides” to win.
