In this week’s Hinton Unleashed video, Prost Amerika video columnist Alan Hinton sang the praises of Seattle Sounders FC midfielder Nicolas Lodeiro.
The Sounders signed Lodeiro on July 27, and he played his first match four days later. His impact was immediate: Seattle’s unbeaten (3-0-1) since the former Boca Juniors midfielder’s arrival to the Pacific Northwest.

“There’s no question Lodeiro has become the conduit, if you like, for the whole team. He joins up the midfield…with Dempsey…with Morris…with Ivanschitz…with Mears going down the right…with Joevin Jones going down on the left…He’s everywhere!
I think he runs more miles than any other player in Sounders history.”
Seattle struggled to score goals prior to Lodeiro’s arrival by averaging a single goal in their first 20 games. Since then, the Sounders are tallying 2.25 goals per game.
Hinton wondered if Lodeiro had signed sooner in the season would former head coach Sigi Schmid still have a job with the Sounders?
