In this week’s edition of Hinton Unleashed, Prost Amerika video columnist Alan Hinton shared his thoughts on the 2014-15 English Premier League season, the Seattle Sounders’ Clint Dempsey and Obafemi Martins scoring combination, and his disdain for Major League Soccer’s salary cap.
English Premier League
“I think (Chelsea owner Roman) Ambramovich is a tough owner. If you win trophies, he loves you. If you don’t, he just fires you.”
With Chelsea clinching the league title with three games left in the season, Hinton praised the efforts of manager Jose Mourinho and his ability to work for a demanding owner. He went on to comment on the EPL sides headed for relegation.
Major League Soccer
“I dislike completely the (MLS) salary cap. Everybody finds a way around it.”
The former First Division winger saved his strongest words for the MLS salary cap. He noted teams always seem to be able to circumvent the financial limitations implemented by the league.
