Prost Amerika video columnist Alan Hinton reviewed Seattle Sounders FC’s recent Cascadia derby matchup against Portland, Clint Dempsey’s health issues, English Premier League and Sam Allardyce’s English National Team coaching debut this weekend.
Sounders FC playoff chances and Clint Dempsey’s health
“I think its been an issue in the past.”
Hinton shared his thoughts on the Sounders’ chances of making the playoffs despite the 4-2 loss to Portland last Sunday, and Clint Dempsey’s health issues.
The former North American Soccer League player and coach felt Seattle could clinch a slot in the postseason if they won their four remaining home matches.
According to Hinton, the Sounders were aware of Dempsey’s irregular heartbeat, and he wished the Texas native all the best.
English Premier League and Sam Allardyce
“The whole country will be watching Sam Allardyce.”
Three weeks into the EPL season, Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are atop the standings with unbeaten records. Hinton analyzed their early season successes, and upcoming Manchester derby between United and City after the international break.
England’s new head man Sam Allardyce makes his coaching debut this Sunday in a World Cup qualifier against Slovakia. Hinton complimented the gregarious Allardyce for his desire to win. He also noted the amount of scrutiny the veteran manager will face this weekend.
