In the latest edition of Hinton Unleashed, Prost Amerika columnist and soccer pundit Alan Hinton discussed the Seattle Sounders FC’s season.
The former Derby County winger strongly disagree with Fox soccer analyst Alexi Lalas for his comments identifying the Red Bulls-New York City FC meetings as Major League Soccer’s best rivalry.
Hinton went on to review the English Premier League campaign with the season’s biggest winners and losers.
“I will take exception with Alexi Lalas…He’s just come out and said the biggest rivalry in Major League Soccer is the New York Red Bulls against New York City (FC). I got news for you Alexi: The biggest rivalry by a mile, by a country mile, is Portland versus Seattle.”
Hinton took issue with Lalas’ opinion naming the Red Bulls-NYCFC matches as the league’s premier derby during last Sunday’s Portland vs NYCFC broadcast. Hinton went on to point out the size of the crowds and passion generated whenever the Sounders and Timbers meet on the pitch.
