Prost Amerika columnist Alan Hinton provided his thoughts on Leicester City’s unbelievable run to the top of the Premier League table, Manchester United’s conservative play last week, and Seattle’s 1-0 loss to Sporting Kansas City.
Hinton also asked fans to join him at a Sounders FC viewing party this Saturday afternoon in Bellevue, WA. He plans to showcase his infamous white boots at the event.
Leicester City atop EPL table
“They could wrap this thing up be the end of April.”
Hinton commented on Leicester City’s improbable rise to the top of the EPL standings. The former Derby County winger noted Leicester City’s path to the championship required no games outside of the English domestic league.
All of their rivals face matchups in other competitions: Arsenal (UEFA Champions League), Manchester City (UEFA Champions League), Manchester United (UEFA Europa League & FA Cup) and Tottenham (UEFA Europa League).
Louis van Gaal’s conservative play
“Manchester United is still a mess.”
Juan Mata’s red card contributed to Manchester United’s 1-0 loss to West Bromwich. Hinton was critical of manager Louis van Gaal’s conservative approach after Mata’s sending off.
He thought the Red Devils should have attacked rather than playing a possession game.
Seattle Sounders FC’s 1-0 loss to Sporting KC
“He (Fisher) did come in with two feet. He didn’t touch the guy. …This was not a vicious tackle.”
Hinton thought referee Alan Kelly’s made a bad decision by ejecting Oniel Fisher in the 41st minute.
Sporting’s long-range tally in the second half by Nuno Andre Coelho skidded off the wet CenturyLink field past goalkeeper Stefan Frei. The usually reliable Seattle stopper admitted after the match he misjudged the game-winning shot.
Hinton to show off his white boots at Sounders FC viewing party

Hinton said he would bring his famous white boots to the event. He invited local fans to join him at the following location:
