The Portland Timbers announced today that the club has given multiyear extensions to Giovanni Savarese and his coaching staff, composed of Carlos Llamosa, Miles Joseph, Guillermo “Memo” Valencia and Shannon Murray.
In his first year, Giovanni Savarese posted a 15-10-9 record in 2018 and clinching a berth to the Audi 2018 MLS Cup Playoffs for the team fourth time in the last six seasons.
As mentioned Giovanni Savarese has helped the team reach its second MLS Cup as the Timbers winning its second Western Conference Championship.
Furthermore the the Portland Timbers posted 15 wins in 2018 ranking tied for the most regular season wins (2015, 2017) in the club MLS history. Savarese finished tied for the third-most wins by a first-year head coach in MLS history.
So far, this season the club has post a mark of 8-3-1 over their last games across all competitions after starting the season with 12 consecutive road games.
Therefore the Portland Timbers in this 2019, have advanced to the quartefinals of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup for the second straight season after victories over the Seattle Sounders in the fourth Round and in the Round of 16 the LA Galaxy.
