Columbus Crew (6-3-3, 21 points) versus the New England Revolution (5-3-2,17 points)

Columbus is undefeated in their last five games.

On top of that they posted three straight shutouts defensively during their three game week

The first of those three shutouts were with only ten men for 75 minutes in Seattle.

The last time the Columbus Crew had three straight defensive shutouts in the league:

Yet will be a trickier expectation against New England. The last time Columbus played the Revolution that game was an enthralling 2-2 offensive battle in Columbus.

Very open. The game was 2-2 but could’ve been 5-5.

I left that game impressed with what Brad Friedel and Mike Lapper have done in New England thus far.

Crewture’s projected Crew lineup:

Gregg Berhalter has certain positions he switches between 3 or 4 players between 3 or 4 consecutive games.

Since Santos left Saturday’s game 10 minutes in with hamstring issues and Grella started I think Niko Hansen (80 minutes) and Cristian Martinez (18 minutes) are next up.

Crognale would be next up on the ferris wheel of center backs to team up with Jonathan Mensah, yet because of not full integration yet I figure Berhalter goes back to Abubukar.

Williams played the last game next to Mensah.

New England’s projected lineup:

New England’s last lineup gained a 3-2 win over Toronto F.C. at home.

Cristian Penilla really had his game of games so far in MLS scoring two goals in the victory and is a player Columbus will have to look out for.

PREDICTION: Because the game is in New England and New England does have some talent offensively…

The last game between Columbus and New England was one of the most exciting games offensively this year overall in my opinion.

I’m guessing the shutout streak won’t reach four games but I think we still grab a victory.

Columbus 2-1. Goals by Zardes x2, NE goal by Penilla.
