Vancouver, BC- If Friday night was their final night as a professional side then Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 went out fighting. With rumors that the side may be disbanded their side fought valiantly in a 4-3 loss to Orange County SC Thunderbird Stadium.
Myer Bevan (15′), David Norman (43′), and Kadin Chung (62′) would provide the goals for the junior Caps side while Orange County SC would receive goals from Irvin Parra (41′ and 76′), Zach Kobayashi (75′) and the match-winner from substitute Kevin Jeon (83′). While OCSC (11-11-10, 43 points) would get the result it wasn’t enough for them to earn a spot in the USL Western Conference Playoffs.
As for Whitecaps 2 the loss marked the end of a difficult campaign for the season and a difficult end to possibly the side as we know it. As noted in AFTN’s Michael McColl back on October 10th the side will be folding in the offseason with Reno FC becoming the Whitecaps affiliate in USL. The sides lone playoff appearance came last season when they made it to the USL Western Conference Finals.
