Vancouver, BC-Resolve. It is a word that gets tossed around quite a bit when discussing matters on the pitch. The ability for a club to turn their luck around in a short amount of time to earn a result. It is not something that every club has but if Saturday’s result is any indication it is something the Vancouver Whitecaps have. Despite going down early against the Los Angeles Galaxy, the Caps rallied scoring three times in the second half to down their Western Conference rivals 4-2.
Forward Matias Laba (67′ and 87′) scored twice for Vancouver while Cristian Techera (19′) and Freddy Montero (66′) each added their own scoring mark in the match. The Galaxy meanwhile were represented on the box score by midfielder Romain Alessandrini (30′) and an own goal from Whitecaps goalkeeper David Ousted (26′). The win was Vancouver’s first of their 2017 campaign and a possible positive sign ahead of their CONCACAF Champions League semifinal match against Tigres. Carl Robinson’s side find themselves down 2-0 on aggregate in the series with a second leg date set for BC Place on Tuesday.
