Vancovuer Whitecaps 3- New England Revolution 3

Those who were looking for a tight defensive affair between the Vancouver Whitecaps (4-5-5, 17 points) and the New England Revolution (5-4-3, 18 points) on Saturday night at BC Place in Vancouver were probably sorely disappointed. However, those that were looking for a few goals might have walked away a bit happy after 90 minutes as the two sides combined for six goals in a 3-3 draw.

An Aly Ghazal own goal (26′) along with goals from Cristian Penilla (48′) and Teal Bunbury (59′). As for the Whitecaps they needed just one player to have their scoring touch: Cristian Techera, who netted the ‘Caps first hat trick (49′, 51′, and 74’) since 2013. On a night which saw Kendall Waston bid adieu to Vancouver for the next 4-6 weeks (he will be representing Costa Rica at the 2018 World Cup in Russia) Techera sent his teammate off with the knowledge that his club will be just fine in his absence.

You can check out New England Revolution reporter Brian O’Connell’s recap of the match below. But also on hand to cover the match was Prost Amerika photographer Gerrit te Hennepe.
