In its season home opener, Philadelphia spoiled its 2020 record for no home regular season losses by losing Saturday evening to Inter Miami, 2-1. The first half started with Philadelphia looking the stronger of the two teams, with the Union failing to capitalize on several chances. There was no score by half-time.
At the fifty-fourth minute, Jamiro Monteiro scored for the Union off of an assist by Kacper Przybylko (see photo below). After the goal, however, Philadelphia seemed to relax and cede control of the match.
At the seventy-third minute, the Higuaíns teamed up for Miami. Gonzalo headed the ball into the far right corner of the goal off of a free kick taken by Federico. (see photo below).
The Union revved up their play after the Miami goal, but it was not enough to prevent a second Miami goal, ten minutes later. This time Federico Gonzalo Higuaín sent the header left, assisted by Nicolás Figa.
