Toronto FC 3-Chicago Fire 0

July is usually the time of the year that teams in Majpor League Soccer either work their way in or out of a playoff spot. Toronto FC will hope that Saturday’s result is a sign of things to come in their MLS Cup defense, a 3-0 win over the Chicago Fire.

TFC’s three goals were scored by Jozy Alitdore (52′) Joanthan Osorio (72′), and Sebastian Giovinco (89′). Goalkeeper Alex Bono faced some stiff challenges early in the first half from the Fire attack but his three saves were enough to preserve the shutout.

With the win Toronto (6-11-4, 22 points) moves into a tie on points with Orlando City SC while the Chicago Fire are just ahead of both sides at 23 points (6-12-5, 23 points).
