Toronto FC 2-Chicago Fire 2

There will come a time when Alan Gordon retires from Major League Soccer. Thankfully for Chicago Fire fans that day was not yesterday. The 15 year MLS veteran helped his side crawl out of a 2-0 hole at BMO Field on Saturday afternoon and escape their trip north of the border with a 2-2 draw.

After a difficult midweek match against Chivas de Guadalajara that saw their CONCACAF Champions League hopes dashed, Toronto took a bit of their frustrations out on Chicago. Midfielders Jonathan Osorio and Victor Vasquez put their side up 2-0 with goals in the eighth and 22nd minutes respectively. But the second half was a different story with Chicago creating more attacking chances and putting a fatigued TFC defense on their heels. Midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger narrowed the deficit to one with his goal in the 69th minute. Fire coach Veljko Paunovic’s addition of Gordon in the 82nd minute paid off with him finding the equalizer in injury time.
