Seattle Sounders 4-FC Cincinnati 1
Welcome back, Jordan Morris. After a long year away from the Link Morris made his return to the Sounders in dramatic fashion, scoring twice in Seattle’s 4-1 win over FC Cincinnati on Saturday night.
While at the end of the night the Sounders were celebrating, things initially looked a little bleak. Despite facing immense pressure early FC Cincinnati took the lead in the 13th minute with Leonardo Bartone getting the club’s first-ever goal in Major League Soccer. All Stefan Frei could do was look as Bartone’s blistering strike from at the top of the eighteen gave the road side the 1-0 advantage.
Despite going down early Seattle kept working on the Cincinnati defense, putting pressure from the outside with the hope that it would lead to a few goals. In the 27th minute they finally broke through with Kelvin Leerdam finishing off shot by Nico Lodeiro. Morris would add two of his own just before halftime with goals in the 33rd and 43rd minute. While Cincinnati looked like they might cut the lead down to one in the second half, Raul Ruidiaz ended any hopes of a comeback with a goal in the 87th minute.
