Seattle Sounders 4-Colorado Rapids 0
Get the points, move on to the next match. That seems to be the mindset of the Seattle Sounders during the Brian Schmetzer era. As the club has done during the past two seasons under Schmetzer, the Sounders are once again doing all of the right things to earn their side a spot in the MLS Cup Playoffs. Facing a Colorado Rapids side already eliminated from playoff contention, the Sounders got all three points in their 4-0 win on Saturday at CenturyLink Field in Seattle.
Raul Ruidiaz’s (22′ and 73′) brace led the way for Seattle on the afternoon, giving him seven goals on the season. Nico Lodeiro added a goal, converting on his penalty kick chance in the 52nd minute. Seattle’s fourth came courtesy of a Victor Rodriguez strike in the 80th minute.
With the win Seattle (14-11-5, 47 points) move to within a point of the Portland Timbers (13-9-9, 48 points) for the number four playoff seed in MLS’ Western Conference. They also get a bit of breathing room from sixth place Real Salt Lake, who were idle this weekend.
