Seattle Sounders 2-FC Dallas 1

It wasn’t pretty and at times it was downright dangerous but in the end the Seattle Sounders left CenturyLink Field with exactly what they needed: three points. Seattle’s (9-9-5, 32 points) playoff hopes were given a boost on Sunday night with a 2-1 win over FC Dallas (12-5-6, 42 points).

Chad Marshall gave the Sounders the lead just before halftime with his header off of a Nicolas Lodeiro corner kick in the 41st minute. Dallas came marching back with a goal of their own in the 52nd minute with Dominique Badji getting his first goal for the Hoops. But Lodeiro’s prolific work on set pieces continued with the Uruguayan international knocking a free kick chance past the Dallas defense in the 63rd minute. Dallas continued to press late into the match. But a questionable red card to Reto Ziegler in the first minute of injury time ended their hopes.
