San Jose Earthquakes 1-Montreal Impact 2

If it is the end of Nacho mania in Montreal it appears that it will be ending on a high note. The Impact’s all-time leading scorer was in rare form on Saturday night, scoring the game-tying goal in Montreal’s 2-1 road win over the San Jose Earthquakes.

Whenever one has two sides that have made a lot of moves in the offseason the first half of the first game can often be a bit difficult to watch. But San Jose and Montreal defied the norm  at Avaya Stadium putting on a goal-scoring show for the 18,000 in attendance. Magnus Eriksson put the Quakes up early with his goal in the eleventh minute. But Montreal came marching right back with Piatti hammering home the equalizer in the 29th minute. They would take the lead just before halftime after a Zakaria Diallo’s cross into the box found Saphir Taider near the back post.

On hand to cover the match was our newest photographer Daniel Burkhead of Quakesfan.com. Please enjoy some of his photos from the match below and our full gallery on SmugMug.
