Portland Timbers 2- Montreal Impact 2

Thirteen for some is an unlucky number but for the Portland Timbers it looks pretty darn good. On Sunday the Timbers extended their unbeaten run in league play to a baker’s dozen with a 2-2 draw against the Montreal Impact.

Things weren’t looking so rosy early on for Portland as Saphir Taider gave the Impact the 1-0 lead with his goal in the 23rd minute. But Samuel Armenteros pulled things level just before halftime for the Timbers, notching the equalizer in the 39th minute. But Montreal continued to exploit Timbers weaknesses in the defensive midfield and in the 41st minute Matteo Mancosu put them ahead again. In the second Portland’s attack picked up the pace with Diego Valeri leading the charge. The reigning MLS MVP put his side level with his goal in the 65th minute.

On hand to cover the match was our Portland Thorns photography team of Dante y Butreida and Jeff Wong. Please enjoy their photos below and give us your thoughts in the comments section.
