The Philadelphia Union emerged from its funk with a strong 3-0 over Toronto F.C.  Reversing a seeming trend of being scored on early, Philadelphia’s Jakob Glesnes (assisted by Daniel Gazdag) back-headed the ball past Toronto’s keeper Alex Bono for the first goal in the 12th minute.  Philadelphia’s second score resulted from Bono taking down Philadelphia’s Sergio Santos, for which a penalty kick was awarded.  Gazdag converted the penalty kick at the 33rd minute for his first score of the year for the Union.  The third goal was a patented Sergio Santos run off of a lovely through pass by José Martínez at the 36th minute.

The Union held onto the three goal lead through the second half.  This included a questionable penalty by Jack Elliott in the box which, upon review, appeared to show Elliott’s planted foot being struck by Toronto’s Richie Laryea.  The Philadelphia keeper Andre Blake seemed to know that Toronto’s Yeferson Soteldo was shooting left and saved the penalty shot.

The Last minutes of the game saw Philadelphia’s youngsters (Quinn Sullivan, Paxten Aaronson and Jack Mcglynn) relieve the overworked Gazdag, Leon Flach and Kacper Przybylko.
