Philadelphia’s Kacper Przybylko broke out of what appeared to be a slump during the MLS is Back Tournament, scoring three goals in the last two Union games. Against D. C. United, his two scores came early, at the 7th and 16th minutes, at which point the Union created a vice grip on the game that would continue until the final whistle.
The first half wouldn’t be complete until the the 21st minute when Philadelphia’s Sergio Santos, assisted by José Martínez, increased the score to 3-0.
Early in the second half, Brenden Aaronson tallied the fourth goal on a pass from Przybylko, also assisted by Olivier Mbaizo.
It wasn’t all good news for Philadelphia. Just after Aaronson scored, D. C. United’s Julian Gressel spoiled Andre Blake’s clean sheet with a goal in the 63rd minute, assisted by Júnior Moreno. Kai Wagner left the match in the 27th minute, apparently dogged by his leg injury. And, there were more than enough yellow cards given out to the Union — five (Martínez, Mbaizo, Ilsinho, Creavalle, Monteiro) with only one to United (Felipe Campanholi Martins).
