For the first time since the start of the pandemic – or for that matter, the first time this year – a small number of fans trudged into the rain to watch the Philadelphia Union gain its sixth straight home victory against the Montreal Impact. Philadelphia once again was without the able assistance of Jose Martinez due to his international duty stint, and as a result, Ilsinho started the game.
Ilsinho’s vision impacted the game early with a perfect through pass picked up by Philadelphia’s Jamiro Monteiro, who scored from the right at the 39th minute (see photo below). The Union’s second score occurred just after half time. As he does so often, Brenden Aaronson brought the ball up on the left side and passed to the cutting Ilsinho. Having drawn the keeper to the left, Ilsinho passed right to Santos who easily headed to the ball into a wide open net (see photo below).
Montreal’s Amar Sejdic scored his first MLS goal (assisted by Romell Quioto) at the 65th minute. Montreal broke through the line of Philadelphia defenders and squeaked the ball to the left of Philadelphia keeper Andre Blake (see photo below).
Following the Montreal score, Philadelphia held off further scoring to win their sixth consecutive home game.
