Columbus Crew 2- NYCFC 1

Just when you think the Columbus Crew are out of it, they somehow find a way back. After dropping points in each of their last two games and facing a 1-0  deficit things looked very dim for the Crew on Saturday night against NYCFC. But Gregg Berhalter’s side showed their resilence, scoring twice late to earn a 2-1 win against The Pigeons.

Ismael Tajouri-Shradi scored first for NYCFC, finishing off an Anton Tinnerholm pass for his eleventh goal of the season. But Columbus quickly equalized with Harrison Afful picking up an Alexander Ring block and hitting his shot past Sean Johnson in the 61st minute. They wasted little time getting their second with returning hero Justin Meram (63′) heading home a goal off of a corner kick.

With the win Columbus (12-8-7, 43 points) stays three points ahead of the Philadelphia Union (12-11-4, 40 points) for the number fourth seed in the Eastern Conference standings  The win also enables them to edge closer to NYCFC (14-7-6, 48 points) and the third spot in the East.
