Colorado Rapids 2- Sporting Kansas City 2
It all looked too perfect for the Colorado Rapids on Saturday. Up two goals, at home, and in their home season opener. It was the perfect recipe for a side looking for a change after a tough 2017. But someone else had a say in this matter: Sporting Kansas City. Despite being down two goals SKC came back late and earned a 2-2 draw in front of 17,424 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado.
Dominique Badji (5′) and Joe Mason (8′) gave Colorado an early 2-0 lead with their first goals of the season. But in the second half the Sporting attack came alive and in the 57th minute they cut Colorado’s lead to one thanks to a goal from Franklin Gutierrez. It was his fourth goal of the season. They would find their equalizer in the first minute of injury time with forward Diego Rubio doing the honors.
