The Chicago Fire are through! After five very long seasons the Fire find themselves back in the MLS Cup Playoffs. Thanks to an early outburst of goals Chicago easily walked past the San Jose Earthquakes on Wednesday night by the score of 4-1.

Chicago’s goals were scored by Djordjie Mihalovic (14′), Luis Solignac (40′), and Nemanja Nikolic (48′ and 65′). The Earthquakes lone goal would come from Chris Wondolowski in the 87th minute. While Wondo’s goal narrowed Chicago’s lead to three it was too little, too late in terms of helping the home side from losing their second consecutive match.

We have reports on this match from Chicago and San Jose below.
