Chicago Fire 0-New York Red Bulls 1
It wasn’t that long ago that Bradley Wright-Phillips was trialist trying to earn a spot on the New York Red Bulls roster. The son of the legendary Ian Wright and a legend in his own respects for his work with Charlton, the man simply known as BWP worked his way through the ranks of the Red Bulls to become their most prolific scorer. On Saturday night at Toyota Park he added another chapter to that history scoring New York’s only goal in their 1-0 win over the Chicago Fire.
Wright-Phillips goal came in the 55th minute, finishing off a threaded pass from Tyler Adams to give the visitors the lead. His goal was his 15th of the season, becoming the first-ever player in Major League Soccer history score 15 goals in five consecutive seasons. With the win the Red Bulls (15-6-2, 47 points) furthered their hot streak, having now won eight of their last ten matches. As for Chicago (6-14-5, 23 points) their epic slide continues with the club now having lost their last eight matches across all competitions.
