The Los Angeles Galaxy’s roster makeover continued on Thursday, as the team announced they had traded midfielder Sebastian Lletget to the New England Revolution in exchange for $500,000 on general allocation money.
“Sebastian has grown as a player and an ambassador for our organization during his seven seasons with the club,” said Head Coach Greg Vanney. “We’d like to thank Sebastian for everything he has given to the LA Galaxy and wish him the best in New England.”
The move to New England reunites LLetget with manager Bruce Arena, who brought the midfielder to Los Angeles back when Arena was still managing the Galaxy. Lletget came to the Galaxy, from EPL side West Ham United in June of 2015 and made an impact, as he appeared in 20 league matches and scored seven goals. LLetget would become a mainstay in the Galaxy midfield throughout his seven seasons in Los Angeles, tallying 30 goals and 28 assists in 177 games played (141 starts) across all competitions in his career with LA. Lletget’s 154 regular-season appearances rank 13th all-time in club history. LLetget’s success with the Galaxy finally paid off this season, as he made the MLS all-star team.
LLetget parlayed his performance with the Galaxy into appearances with the U.S. National team. Lletget made 33 appearances (19 starts) and tallied eight goals and three assists for the USMNT.
