Coming off a rugged draw against a Western Conference rival, the Los Angeles Galaxy now set their sights on another conference rival.
With its scoreless draw against Real Salt Lake in the rear view mirror, the Galaxy now brace for a massive showdown with FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium, and to say this is a big game would be an understatement.
FC Dallas is currently tied with the Vancouver Whitecaps for first place in the West. Dallas started the season 4-0-1, lost to the Colorado Rapids 4-0 on April 10, but shook it off to go 2-0-1 in its next three games to put them its current position.
FCD is led by midfielder Fabian Castillo, who is tied with Blas Perez with four goals apiece. Castillo is indeed the main cog behind FC Dallas’ attack, as he has a team-high five assists.
The Galaxy’s draw against RSL on Wednesday put them in fourth place in the Conference, but its 14 points leave them just three points back of both Dallas and Vancouver. The Galaxy have played its last five games without striker Robbie Keane, who is nursing a groin injury. LA has sorely missed his presence, and the last two matches certainly proved that point. Keane however is unlikely to play against Dallas.
