PRESEASON:  CHICAGO FIRE 0-0 PHILADELPHIA UNION:  The Chicago Fire and Philadelphia Union played to a goalless draw in Clearwater, FL, on Thursday morning. There was nothing really of note for the match apart from Stefan Cleveland making a couple saves in the second half.

The Fire played one team in the first half and an entirely different team in the second save for Jon Bakero who played 76 minutes. Once again, Bastian Schweinsteiger did not play.
Ex-Fire player David Accam did start for the Union and played 62 minutes as did most of the starters who were not subbed out at halftime.
After a weekend back in Chicago (and the snow), it will be back to Florida on Sunday where they will train at the IMG Academy in Bradenton through February 24th.
RED STARS NAME ASSISTANTS:  The Chicago Red Stars have named both Gary Curneen and Craig Harrington as assistants to Rory Dames this season. Curneen was most recently women’s soccer coach at Cal-State Bakersfield where he was named Western Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2016. He also has had stops with Division II Wingate (NC) and the University of Cincinnati. He also has a UEFA ‘A’ License from the Irish FA (Northern Ireland).
Harrington played club soccer with Oxford United and Swindon Town Academy. He was acting as a head coach in LA Galaxy’s youth academy and was there from 2010 to 2012. He was also technical director of the Turks and Caicos Islands National Team where he took the team to its highest ever FIFA ranking. Harrington holds an ‘A’ license from the US Soccer Federation.
