CHICAGO, IL–The exchange between clubs owned by Joe Mansueto continues on Friday as Chicago Fire FC transferred forward Kacper Przybylko to Swiss Superliga side FC Lugano. Both clubs are owned by Mr, Mansueto. Przybylko becomes the third Fire player to be subsequently transferred to FC Lugano following Ignacio Aliseda and Jhon Espinoza (both of whom are still on FC Lugano).

Maren Haile-Selassie was the first to come the other way in 2023 and earned a permanent transfer to the Fire in the offseason while Ousmane Doumbia returned to Lugano after a loan spell last season. Defender Allan Arigoni joined the Fire from Lugano this season via a loan.

“Kacper will be an important addition for our partner club FC Lugano,” said Chicago Fire FC Sporting Director Georg Heitz. “It’s no secret that we have been planning to move Kacper prior to the start of the 2024 season. This transfer will provide additional reinforcements for FC Lugano while also providing Kacper with an opportunity to play in a competitive European league.”

Przybyłko came to the Fire in 2022 after scoring 35 goals in three seasons with Philadelphia Union, but goals came hard to come by with the Fire as he would score just nine in 50 matches over two seasons.

IN OTHER NEWS:  The Fire unveiled their “Return to Red” kit on Thursday night. It will be the first the Fire have worn red for their primary kit since 2019 following an ill-advised logo and color change in 2020 which saw the Fire wear navy blue primarily for the next four seasons. The kit is on sale now at MLSStore.com and at the Fire Pitch (3526 N. Talman).
