Houston Dynamo 3-0 Chicago Fire
BRIDGEVIEW, IL—In the end, nothing changes. The Fire lost 3-0 at the Houston Dynamo, but finish in third place in the Eastern Conference with both Atlanta and Columbus failing to win as well. New York City FC retained their position in second place in the East. Houston did gain a position to finish fourth in the Western Conference and a home knockout match against Sporting Kansas City.
Houston only needed 79 seconds to score as Leonardo headed in a long throw-in from Adolfo Machado. Romell Quioto made it 2-0 in the 68th minute after a fifty-yard run and his shot mishandled by Richard Sanchez and into the net. Mauro Manotas completed the scoring after collecting a cross from Andrew Wenger in the 75th minute.
But in the end, it ultimately did not hurt the Fire as Atlanta and Columbus could only get 2-2 draws in their matches with Toronto and NYCFC, respectively. Nemanja Nikolic ends the regular season with the Goldne Boot on 24 goals.
The Fire now host New York Red Bulls in a knockout match on Wednesday night at 7:30pm on FS1 and UniMas.
