Houston Dynamo 1-Portland Timbers 1

Argentine forward Brian Fernandez, who is the latest Timbers signing, only needed twelve minutes on the pitch to score his first career MLS goal. The former Necaxa player entered the match in the 65th minute and was an instant solution, scoring a goal in the 77th minute to help Portland get a point in a complicated away match for coach Savarese and his Timbers

On the other hand, the Houston Dynamo remains undefeated at home. The home team controlled the actions most of the first half, but in the second half they had a big mistake in defense, which opened the door for the visitors to tie everything up.

The Orange gained the lead in the 40th minute when Mauro Manotas scored his sixth goal of the season and his eighth goal in nine matches against the Timbers. He was assisted by Alberth Elis, who had an outstanding game for Houston.

Another important player for the Dynamo was Matias Vera. The defensive midfielder covered and pressed Sebastian Blanco and Diego Valeri, who are responsible to lead the offense of the Portland team. Cutting the circuits at midfield, helped Houston control the possession of the ball and manage the timings during the match.

Even though both teams created some chances to score and therefore winning the game, the final result was 1-1.

With the tie, the Dynamo has now 20 points after 10 matches to remain in the top 4 of the Western Conference standings whereas the Timbers have only 11 points after 11 games.

Next for Portland is a visit to Philly to play against the Union. On the other hand, Houston will host Wayne Rooney and the DC United on Saturday.
