FC Dallas 3-1 Seattle Sounders FC

FRISCO, TX–FC Dallas became the first to force a third and deciding game in the first round of the MLS Cup Playoffs by defeating Seattle Sounders FC, 3-1, at Toyota Stadium. It is the first time a straight best-of-three format has been in the playoffs at any stage since 1999.

Paul Arriola opened the scoring after just six minutes when he headed in a cross from Bernard Kamungo. FCD doubled their advantage in the 18th minute from the penalty spot. VAR determined that Nouhou tripped up Kamungo in the area and Jesus Ferreira converted the spot kick in the 18th minute.

Jordan Morris pulled on back for the Sounders in the 48th minute with shot past Maarten Paes near post. The goal was initially disallowed for offside, but VAR reversed that decision. The Sounders pressed for an equalizer, but were unable to get one. Later, Jader Obrian would seal the match with a takeaway at midfield and then blast one past Stefan Frei.

The third and deciding match will take place on Friday at Lumen Field at 9pm CT on Apple TV and will be on Sirius XM radio Channel 157.
