April 7, 2018: OKC Energy FC plays the Portland Timbers 2 in a USL match at Taft Stadium in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Last winter, the Portland Timbers made a trade for Eryk Williamson. A product of the DC United academy, so far his presence in the Timbers has been invaluable. Although he earned a number of minutes with T2 and time with the senior side at the U.S. Open Cup he may now be proving his greatest value. Earlier this week the Timbers announced that Williamson will go on loan to CD Santa Clara in Portugal.

His 45 minutes participation in the US Open Cup against San Jose, Williamson was lauded by the Timbers coaching staff for his all-around performance in that win. Overall, he made 16 appearances for Portland’s T2 side with a total of 1,252 minutes, three goals and two assists.

The unfortunate side is the presence of several senior players in the big team but his talent is highly regarded as one day being a stellar in the Portland team. Considered a diamond in the rough, his time in the Portuguese league will be of much benefit to his game.

This has given to a loan to LigaPro CD Santa Clara and his new manager Joao Henriques who will have a golden ticket with Williamson all around talents. This is something that manager Giovanni Savarese is looking from Eryk in his stint in Portugal’s top flight that for sure will expand and create a grand game in this chap.

As the new Azorean will defend the colors of CD Santa Clara and facing the best of Portugal Premier League. Is one experience manager Savarese is looking forward to see the results from Williamson as a better player and ready to make the big jump to the big team.

Currently CD Santa Clara plays in the Azores and its grounds are Estadio De Sao Miguel in Ponta Delgada in the Municipality of Concelho. With two matches played in the recently inaugurated championship, the Azoreans are 13th in the overall table of eighteenth, with a loss and a draw.
