After weeks of pressure from fans to make a move in the front office, especially in the GM position, the Houston Dynamo announced today that they have parted ways with VP and General Manager Matt Jordan. He was part of the club for seven seasons when the team won a US Open Cup in 2017 and made the playoffs only once, reaching the conference final.
There have been many controversial moves and bad transfer decisions that have affected the team on the field as well as financially over the years. Many of those decisions have been taken by Jordan. So parting ways with him is not a surprise for anyone in Houston.
This is the first big move by new majority owner Ted Segal. “After spending the last several weeks observing and evaluating a number of facets of our organization, I determined that it is in the best interest of the club to go in a different direction with our soccer operations leadership.”
The Dynamo is not having a good season. They have only 3 wins after 22 matches, and they have been winless in the last 15 games. Currently, they are in last place in the western conference with only 19 points. Tab Ramos had moved his pieces, but it is not finding the way to win games.
Now, the search for a new GM is on the way. One thing that Ted Segal said when he took over the team a few months ago was that he wants to have knowledgeable people in his team that will help him take the best decision for the club.
The Orange have a complicated schedule ahead. Their next five matches are against the Portland Timbers, Austin FC, LA Galaxy, FC Dallas, and Minnesota United. Coach Tab Ramos is in a hot seat now as results should start coming if he wants to stay with Houston.
